HARTFORD – Capital Community College’s Changing Lives Celebration, an annual charity event celebrating student and alumni success stories, will be held on Wednesday November 3rd from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the 950 Main Street campus in the college’s historic art-deco auditorium, Centinel Hill Hall. The Changing Lives reception is the signature event for Hartford’s only public undergraduate institution, and Connecticut’s only Hispanic-serving institution, as designated by the federal government. Focusing on Capital’s mission through the experiences of successful students, the event will include a silent auction and a live auction where attendees can purchase “credit courses” for students.
Hartford Mayor Pedro Segarra, a Capital graduate and founder of the college’s Latin American Student Association (LASA), will be among alumni and students recognized as part of the Changing Lives program.
Capital continues to set enrollment records with more than 5,000 part and full-time students enrolled in the fall semester. The college’s non-profit Foundation has awarded more than $75,000 this fall from proceeds of Changing Lives events and annual contributions.
Travelers is the event sponsor for the Changing Lives Celebration. Since 2007, the insurance company has partnered with the college to establish a Crossroads to Careers Program supported by Travelers EDGE initiative (Empowering Dreams for Graduation and Employment). The Crossroads program, a 2010 recipient of the New England Board of Higher Education (NEBHE) Merit Award, will be recognized for the ongoing impact of the program on students’ academic and career success. Additional sponsorship support comes from MetLife, ING, Hartford Hospital, Saint Francis Foundation, CRT and AI Engineers.
Tickets are available for the Changing Lives event at $100 donor recognition level or $50 per person. Sponsorships are available and auction items are welcome.
