Campus Rotary Club Meeting To Hear UCONN’s Warde Manuel Monday, 7/21

Warde J. Manuel, the University of Connecticut’s Athletic Director, will be the guest speaker at the Rotary Club of Hartford’s second summer meeting on Capital’s campus, on Monday, July 21st, at noon at the Walter Markiewicz Community Room, 2nd floor Welcome Center.

Manuel, whose experience in  intercollegiate athletics ranges from being a student-athlete to a director of athletics, is a 1990 graduate of the University of Michigan where he played both football and track and field. Prior to joining UCONN, Manuel was  the Director of Athletics at the University at Buffalo for six years.

The Rotary luncheon will begin at 12 noon and will conclude at 1:30 p.m. The cost of lunch for members and guests is $20.  RSVPs are required and may be made to the Advancement office 860-906-5102 or via email jmcnamara@capitalcc.edu  by Friday, July 18th.

Rotary Club meetings @ Capital will also be held in August featuring Connecticut Attorney General George Jepsen on August 4th and Leadership Greater Hartford’s Ted Carroll on August 18th.

The Rotary Club is taking a summer hiatus from its usual meeting place, The Hartford Club, to meet on the campus.

The Rotary Club of Hartford, one of the city’s oldest community service organizations and the 21st club established by Chicago-based Rotary International, established a scholarship endowment fund for Hartford residents at the College’s Foundation in 2012 and chartered a student Rotaract Club in the last academic year.
