Shopping for a Cause: College Foundation Can Benefit From “Amazon Smile” Purchases

Amazon, the largest U.S. internet-based retailer, has created a cause-related website for nonprofits allowing consumers to support organizations of their choice as they make purchases.

The giving option, established by the Seattle-based company in 2013, is now available to support the Capital Community College Foundation when individuals designate the College’s nonprofit foundation for support. The program is available to shoppers who visit Amazon via a special Web address — smile.amazon.com — instead of the normal Amazon.com homepage.  Amazon customers use their existing account information to shop at Smile.amazon.com.

On your first visit to AmazonSmile (smile.amazon.com), you can  select a charitable organization (ex. Capital Community College Foundation) to receive donations from eligible purchases before you begin shopping. Amazon will donate .5 percent of purchases.

The direct online link to Amazon and shopping that benefits Capital Community College is https://smile.amazon.com/ch/22-2513381
