Annual Changing Lives Celebration Nov. 4th

Changing Lives Celebration

Capital Community College’s Changing Lives Celebration, an annual charity event celebrating student and alumni success stories, will be held on Wednesday November 4th  from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The Changing Lives program will feature Howie Dickenman, Head Coach of Central Connecticut State University’s men’s basketball and a former Head Coach at Capital in the early 1970s, and Colin McEnroe, Hartford Courant columnist and public radio host.

The evening of wine tastings and hors d’ oeuvres is the signature event for Hartford’s only public undergraduate institution, focusing on Capital’s mission through the experiences of successful students. It will include a live auction for scholarships at the College’s historic art-deco auditorium, Centinel Hill Hall.

Capital continues to exceed enrollment estimates, according to college officials, with an all time high of 4,270 students enrolled in the fall semester. “One of the reasons for our growth in this uncertain economy,” said Capital President Calvin E. Woodland, “is that we   have eliminated the cost roadblock that keeps so many people from moving forward with their education.. Changing Lives events make it possible for individuals who otherwise would not have attended college, to enroll and succeed here.”

Travelers is the lead sponsor for the Changing Lives Celebration. The nationally recognized Crossroads to Careers program – Travelers’ initiative with the College launched in 2008 – will be recognized for its successes in providing internships, mentoring and support to students transferring to four-year institutions and entering insurance and financial services careers.

ING and MetLife are also major sponsors of the Changing Lives Celebration. Benefactor sponsors include BKM Total Office, Community Renewal Team, Hartford Hospital, KPMG LLP and Saint Francis Foundation.
.
Tickets are available for the Changing Lives event at $100 donor level and $50 for alumni and friends. Sponsorships are available. For more information contact the College’s Foundation office at (860) 906-5102 or e-mail CA-foundation@ccc.commnet.edu
